Old schooling :)

Last night the guild decided to do some Firelands, yes I admit I am being slightly selfish there by wanting to get embers.  I am now up to 9 of the little blighters – I am beginning to think I really need to find a Firelands group running 25 man via some of those Xrealm sites.  I want my legendary!

Anyway we managed to get up to Alyzrazor, we wiped on her though.  It is a tough fight for people seeing it the first time, and I was conscious of the time for the people that needed to leave.  We had a couple of Frosties come with us and kept a spot for another one who eventually appeared like magic 🙂  It was a fantastic run and even found out about someone who lives nearby, I like meeting people who live close to me given we are in regional Victoria.

We wiped on Lord Volcanowankerhead twice, the first time at 2%, the DK tank getting him 4% all by himself.  My bad judgement on that one I forgot which one of the DK’s was tanking and called the wrong thing. I felt so ashamed.  The next attempt went awfully bad, then the third one was cake walk, although a little unsteady at the start.  I really really really cannot stress how much I hate that fight.  We wiped on Baleroc once, which given a few hadn’t seen it we lasted quite while, we got him to below 20% pretty sure with about 4 of us dead.  Then it all went weird because certain people who shall remain nameless wanted the boss to be tanked on the side!!  THE SIDE?!!?!?  OMG, I couldn’t cope with it, I felt wrong the entire fight, never mind we were on the wrong side of the field anyway, we were on the left and should have been on the right!!  ARGHH!!!!!

I can’t handle change when I know stuff works a particular way, it messes my head up, not just ingame either, when hubby is driving and goes an alternate route it screws me up and I get all freaked out about it.  He mocks me of course, but, seriously I know I am a control freak, just don’t mess with my shizz!!!  ehehehh

We went off to Malygos after that as hubby only needed that one boss on his Shammy for the title, and we managed to get the 6 minutes and under achievement as well.

The night before we went to Ulduar 25 with the Frosties and Arvash as well.  I went on my boomy as she had never seen the place and OMG it was so much fun.  I sucked all night, I am so out of practice on my girl, but we were smashing through everything.  She got achievements on every single boss 🙂

Freya’s room had me wanting to spend hours in there, so many herbs I wanted to pick!!!  I HAVE TO GO BACK!!!

My beautiful girl, even saw Algalon!!!  ALGALON!!  Can I just say that is a horible fight…maybe it is just me and I am blind as a bat, but I can barely see the red circles to get out of them.  I know hubby was happy to see that fight, as he had never seen it before.  I do wonder how hard it would be to do that Herald of the Titans thing…I am tempted to find a group – but I need a toon first that I can even do it on.  My hunter is the closest to 70.

It was pretty cool though, I would have stayed for the Razormaw achievements, but I was falling asleep as it was, and I hope they did it!!  Grats to them if they did 🙂

I am having so much fun now doing old content!!

ICC 10 man mount hunting

I have been wanting to get the last couple of my mount achievements done on my mage for quite some time, however very rarely do I actually see an ICC run going ahead.

Last night though, we picked up a couple of friends and trundled off to ICC for some mount hunting!

We did it all in heroic bar the lich king himself, and only because our tank and healer had never been to ICC and I think it is a confusing fight when trying to explain it.  We have to go back in again next week for at least 3 guildies to get the rest of their achievements as they were unable to join us last night and to get turned by evil blood sucking vampires 🙂  We may try him on heroic then given they now know it and can understand it.

I was pretty shocked when I died because I did not realise how quickly we would be killing him, the fight seemed (in my memory) to take much longer…clearly at level it did!!  eheeh

But it was well worth it for my precious!!  I think I took about 20 pictures at every angle!  I really want the 25 man version as well and was advised that I am not allowed to organise that ICC run on Wednesday nights..LOL…but I blame certain circumstances like a re-interest in raiding for certain people who shall remain nameless  – which I have no control over :p *cough* *cough*

I hoping to get ICC10 done quicker next week because we all remember it now, I would like to get Ulduar done on the same night – get that mount out of the way, although I have only done it on 25 man and that was AGES ago!  It might be a struggle.

Happy night though!!  Next week more people will have awesome mounts that are across all their toons!!  WOOT WOOT!

We also did a PVP match after the raid and I healed on my pally again – I actually didn’t do too badly this time because I had a few minutes to set up my grid…LOL  bad mistake though.  Somehow  I managed to make out of range toons completely disappear off my grid, which is kind of awesome for PVP because I am not even looking at them then, but it makes it hard to tell what is going on, so I have to fix that tonight before we do more 🙂

DS raiding Hiatus

Our guild lost one of our tanks during the week and although not a major issue now given I am quite a capable tank, it has helped make the decision to place DS raiding on the back burner.

Between now and MoP we intend to raid wednesday nights doing older content – ICC 10 and 25 man mount achievements and possibly Ulduar.  We also want to try and get some guild runs done like BWD and BoT etc, for the achievements.  I wonder if I can convince the guys to do Firelands for some legendaries perhaps???

So although we are not doing DS, we still plan to do things every week.  In theory if we can get through ICC and Ulduar in 2 weeks (if we are achievement lucky) it will mean a few people have some damn awesome mounts and we can spend some time in FL getting me my embers – maybe we should do that 25 man for more embers?

For those that read my blog and may be interested in coming along we raid at 7.30 pm Australia Eastern Standard time (AEST) – HORDE.  These are runs focused on the mount achievements – so if you are interested please comment here or tweet me.  As it stands we will be short about 3 people regularly, possible more on each night for a 10 man group and heaps more for a 25 man group :p

I am pretty sure this coming Wednesday will be ICC  – no idea on the size as yet – probably 10 man unless we get an influx of people wanting to do 25 man.

Laid Back Raid Ulduar

I went on a LBR this morning to Ulduar 🙂

We started off with barely 10 of us and by the end we had swelled to 20, new people being added every couple of bosses or so.  It was pretty enjoyable, slightly scary to start off as JD was “tanking” (he had tank gear on right, that counts???) and all of us were stealing aggro like maniacs, I am surprised we didn’t have more death to be honest.  He was a trooper though!!

We killed everything except Yogg and Algalon.  Although we gave both of those bosses 1 attempt – I thought we should have given them each another try, given these are LBR people don’t know the fights, they come to them with very little experience and I think it is a little harsh to expect people to do the right thing first time in.

We wiped on FL as we left all the towers up – but I blame the game for that as my buttons could not be used during the fght from about halfway – I don’t remember ever having that issue, so perhaps it was a mechanic I have forgotten, but it seemed a little glitchy to me.  We then killed all the towers, or so we thought, and spanked him down with the freezing tower up.

We wiped on Ignis with so much damage going on not surprising really, and I think we only had one healer at that stage – correct me if I am wrong.  Then we got a couple more people in and killed him.  I spent most of the time in his crotch pot, which was sweaty and disgusting!!!

Razor we smashed out of this world – and killed her before she took off again, XT we killed the heart on and then managed to smack him to bits which was also pretty cool.  We killed the council without too much trouble although it was a little messy.

Kologarn we were trying to get the achievement for not killing his arms, but discovered that an unnamed guildie of mine was attacking the right arm instead of the chest, so we managed to kill him, but without the achievement 🙂  We went to Hodir next and managed to get both chests open on that one, I think people got caught in the first flash freeze, ut then after that it was just the NPC’s mainly, so that was pretty good if you ask me, it is one hell of a messy fight!  Auriya killed us by accident as we were taking too long in killing some adds, so we came back in and she layed some smack down on our tank – literally one hit wonder- I swear!!  We got her on the third attempt as we had a couple of others come in to supplement, and she went down like a sack of potatoes.

Freya got pulled before we were ready, and although we lasted quite a while, it was a little premature – given we left all three extras up for hard mode, so we reset her and then came back in and got her easily without the extra extra adds.  That is one hell of a messy fight and never ever ceases to amaze me!!  Then we did Thorim and spanked the bejesus out of him not very exciting at all, my guildies main concern was the lack of Jorgmunger at the start 🙂  Mimiron was easy, although I dc’d just as the middle bit started firing at me, and by the time I got back in I was dead in flames!!

I spent most of the fight wanding it up against General Vesax and just sort of doing nothing, then failed miserably on Yogg, I went in and killed the tentacles and then went insane because of the stupid stupid skull sucking insane thing.  Algalon, would have gone ok, except we had lost a fair few by then due to lunch, so we called it after the wipe on him.

All in all, I had a very very enjoyable run today, it was nice to just be chilling out and not really paying attention to much except having a laugh.  There were so many people getting achivements!!  It was amazing, I was so excited for them all to be getting them 🙂

The most embarrassing moment of course is me telling my hubby that Kerise was Kamalia and I was far too chicken to even talk to her….so he actually SAYS THAT in raid chat!

*embarrasmment crits for 1000000 overkill*

Then when she had to leave I got this whisper, and the coolest thing I could think of to say back…..was with a smiley face….seriously!??!!?  I suck!

There were a few other bloggers in there that I was all excited to see the names of, but I couldn’t bring up the courage to chat to them privately so I just stuck to chatting in raid chat 🙂

Ulduar and Dragonwrath

I had an awesome night tonight running Ulduar for achievements with the Frosties.  Thanks to the invention of Cross realms, I was on my mage  🙂  I got Kolibear to come with us for a little wheile and then when hubby finsihed his raid, i got him to come with us as well.  Hubby got heaps of achievements.like 4 at every boss, it was amazing!

My however, I have done a few of them previously for the mount, but tonight I got some that I have been wanting for a while 🙂

Enter Ironbound Proto Drake

I have had a dreadful flu for the last week and so have not really been doing anything much other than levelling lowbie alts that take no brain power.

I have also been running countless heroics with the hubby to get one of his other toons LFR ready (YAY) so we can run it together  now on a couple of alts.  All my toons got a workout, I tanked a couple – and decided i was not really well enough to continue with it, so went back to my boom chicken and/or mage.

Fun times

We had a really good raid tonight, everyone was on the ball and doing their thing. We one shot everything except Hodir and called it after we killed Thorim.

The poor kiwis had daylisght savings,  which means they are 3 hours ahead for this week, so we have been calling raids early so as to not inconvenience them too much.  I don’t mind at all especially when we are having an awesome night. We cleared so much tonight.  We started at about 6.45 and got to Hodir trash by 7.50pm, so just under and hour and we only skipped Ignis.

Everyone was in pretty high spirits, which is helped by the fact we were doing content we know we can do. Ony was beginning to make us dread raiding I think.

So tomorrow night Freya and Mimron…we are so close on him – then only 2 bosses to go 😀  WOOT WOOT!!  heheh

I really do love my guild, i know I bitch when we are having bad nights, but we all do that.  I just can’t remember a time when I have had so much fun with people, consistently.

I really think, these guys are the reason I have been playing as long as I have. They are just fun to be around and they really do have me in stitches sometimes, but the upside is most of them can actually play as well 😀

One of  the people who doesn’t raid with us anymore because we always had bad nights when they were in the run with us…lol no coincidence I assure you….decided to run with us tonight and they were rather impressed with how good we were going, and as I said to them – they never saw us on our normal nights, they saw us on new bosses – wiping over and over again, which is part of the game.

Anyway I am feeling strangely satisfied with tonight and in a very good mood 😀  eheh

spanking along

So the other day I wrote about how my guys are impressing me…they did it again with a take down of Ignis 🙂

We had maybe 6 attempts in total on him and we got him.  We had always avoided him simply because we failed miserably every time we did try him, so we decided to leave him for a little while 😀  Which was obviously a good thing 🙂

We are having a little trouble on Thorim even though we have gotten him down already – each night just seems to be a little off kilter for us on him…but we shall prevail 😀  We have used the raid lock out this week in the hopes of getting some extra shots in on Freya and Thorim this week – espeically since we have killed ignis now we are hooning along.

Only 3 more bosses to go – the hardest I know…but 3 more to go.

We are also going in on monday to have a look at the new instance coliseum, some have been pugging it already so will be nice to have the experience…the rest of us nubcakes will be freaking out at the fights – they sound sooo complicated 🙂

All in all a very exicting couple of days for the guild 🙂

Freya…nicely done

So we got Freya down, i missed the raid and was listening on via vents and an alt 😀  But was really good, the guys were working together, communicating, throwing ideas back and forth…was excellent to hear :d  I am very very proud of them.

She is a complex fight and I was really concerned we would stuck on her for a while…which is not the case, now we just need to ensure we can repeat the performance 🙂

I am proud of my guys, I asked for some extra from each and every one of them and they seem to be delivering 🙂

Thorim Strat

So we have figured that either 2 hunters or a hunter and a melee down the gauntlet works really well for us, and also 2 tanks in the arena seems to be the winner for us. I know it reduced a DPS, but in all honesty, I think 2 tanks is more important in keeping people alive.

There really isn’t much else to the strat, once he comes down we just get everyone to move out of the orbs and kick his butt.

Our first killing of him we did with about 1.5 minutes to spare, so we did have some wiggle room which was nice 🙂

Thorim DOWN!!

So we squished the big pansy tonight!

We had a full group with the best of our guys online and it took us a few attempts but we did it.  We had a funny run of it actually, as one attempt the ganutlet woudl do awesome and the arena would suck, but then the next attempt it woudl switch…so we were just building to having the perfect run for both groups 😀

We then went and smacked Hodir for the week, took us 3 attempts i think, but not entirely unusual for us, we are not quite one shotting him yet.

Tank got a new headpiece, and some DPS got some upgrades.  All in all a very good night 🙂

We went and had a look at Mmiron for some giggles 😀  and to ride the tram, was cool to see that area, so not sure about him or Freya and which is easier, but we canm work on them both now and hope we get them down.

But YAY!!  Only a few more bosses to go in Ulduar 😀

Ulduar last night :D

Had a great night in ulduar last night, was awesome, we one shot every boss except Ignis (we skip him).

FL, razor, XT, IC, Kolo and Auri.  All one shot and perfect attempts. Very few deaths and was sexy!

I got a new ring off IC, which was a fair upgrade :d  I also got a new cloak in the heroic ToC we ran after the raid. I am trying to get the boots which the Black KNight drops…they are super sexy!!

We called it fairly early last night as our tank had to leave and we had no one else online to switch in to replace him.  Although we were short a few people, this week, and is not the norm.

I think most people were happy to call it early condsidering how well we had done. Tongiht we will smack Hodir on the rump and have a play on Thorim – see if we can’t get the hang of that fight as well 😀

I am happy with my few peices of upgrades though 😀  If I can just replace my boots, I was going to get some crafted but Muze suggested I look for boot sin H ToC and he was right there is a very smexy pair in there 😀

I also have 51 conquests badges, so will look at running some heroics perhaps Tuesday night to get that number up. I have a nice helm from ulduar, but woudl like to perhaps change my legs and gloves.

Ulduar and gear:D

So last night in Ulduar, we did really well.   We one shot Auri and her mental pussy cats with one healer and DPS down from the start of the fight, we almost one shot Hodir (we had a false start) and we had a false start on the Iron Council, but that was due to some miscommunication more than anything 🙂  Aside from that though, we didn’t lose anyone on the fights, we did them perfectly.

We trundled up to Thorim after the 9.00pm break and had a few smashes on him, the gauntlet group got to the second mini boss before death ensued, which for our first time on him, was pretty good I think.  Thorim will not be all that hard once we get the hang of it and sort out the groups properly 🙂

I scored a new helm from Hodir(?) and a new wrist from Iron Council, I have to get them gemmed and chnated tonight.

I think I have to change back to FFB, as my hit is just not high enough to support a TOTW/Fire spec, so my DPS is kind of shitful at the moment, even after regemming everything last night to the epic gems with +23 spell power, I wasn’t hitting 3k DPS.  So I will do thast tonight and keep collecting my hit gear for the totw spec. Apprently FFB is still competitve for DPS, so I might just go back to that spec and deal with the slightly lower DPS, but much improved on what I am now.  If that makes sense.  I can basically drop a fair bit of hit if I go back to FFB and amp it up with crit/spell power.

We decided not to raid lockout this week, simply because on Wednesday we figure we can clear almost everything we cleared this week, last Wednesday was bad due to patches and changed fights etc, so this week should be a smash fest after the maintenance.

Iron Council Strat

So far the best strat that has worked for us, is having our MT grab Steelbreaker and tank him near the front door, and an OT picking up Morogrim (or whatever his name is) and tanking him to the left hand side of the room. (Left hand as you are looking at them).  We don’t even worry about a tank on Brundir until after Steelbreaker is down.

Basically we pop heroism as soon as possible on Steelbreaker so we can get him down faster. We have one healer on Morogrim Tank and 1.5 on the Steelbreaker tank.  We send out .5 tank healer to help on Moro just as Steelbreaker is dying – approx 10% as the tank on Moro ends up taking more.  We all race over to Moro, with the Steelbreaker tank going and picking up Brunir.

Our last good attempts we got Brundir to about 50% before we just had too few alive.

The Runes of Death lived up to their name and just kept killing people.

Seems to work well for us, just hoping we can get some good practice in as I think this is a winner.

Hodir Strat

So basically our Hodir Strat is to remove all the NPC’s from the iceblocks – every time the flash freeze happens…get them out – starting with the mage of course 😀

We tank him in the centre of the circle on the ground and try and keep him as still as possible, so we don’t have to move around as much.  We don’t use a frost tank, and we don’t tank him up the back of the room.

Avoid the runes and priest for Mass dispel is super awesome 😀  We also don’t generally worry about the moonbeams very much and we focus more on the toasty fires.

Sounds easy on paper, much harder in practice 😀  It works for us 🙂

Auriya Strat

Crazy cat Lady 😀  Evil bitch this one.

We use a few combos of strats out there, we have a hunter/immolation trap, DK/D&D, Pally/Consecrate etc to pull them over, we stand at the top of the stars and the end of their patrol and we hide 😀  We have an OT for the 2 cats and a tank for the boss. Generally our Prot warrior takes the 2 cats and our feral takes the boss.

We DPS one cat then the other, popping heroism at the start. If we are having a good DPS night, both cats will be down before the first scream, otherwise the second cat will be at approx 10% health and gets burned down pretty quickly once we get back.

We let the OT pick up the feral defender as much as possible and we don’t DPS it all, just let the general AOE splash damage kill it, at about 5% health we try and move it away from the boss and if not possible the tank starts moving the boss away for the void sphere that spawns.  once the defender is down we move the boss to the the other end of the platform not even very far really, enough that if people get feared it isn’t in the void zone.

Generally we get 2 spawns of the feral defender and only one void zone before the boss is killed.

Kologarn Strat

Kologarn, is such a fun fight 🙂 Dead easy too 😀

MT attacks Kologarn – funny that :d  Making sure they dont’ fall off the ledge 😀  We have lost so many people down the front of Kologarn’s pants 😀

All DPS is on the Right Arm, we pop heroism when the arm respawns.  We have our OT pick up all the adds that spawn when the arms is killed, and me and a lock generally AOE the adds down as soon as the tank has aggro.

Wait for the arm to respawn then take it down again, we don’t worry about the left arm.

The only other thing is to watch out for the eyebeams…we basically run towards the back wall and then along the wall if we get targeted, it keeps it away from the rest of them 🙂
