Raid Team, guilds and throwing down

So, after some pretty heavy recruiting, we managed to get the last few spaces filled in what will hopefully be our core team for raiding.

As it stands though, I have 2 more people that need to start getting focused on their gear, with another 2 at just below the 460 point and the rest of us in full 463 gear.

Not too bad, however I had hoped that we would have been raiding by now.  The plan is now hopeful for Wednesday and at that point, I will start recruiting over those not ready.  It has been well and truly long enough for everyone to get geared and ready, if the GM can level an entirely new toon and be ready I will not believe that other people cannot do 5 levels and gear in the same amount of time.  To me that shows a distinct lack of dedication to the progression focus we want to have.

I don’t want to be server first and beating other guilds etc, but I don’t want to be waiting around for months before we set foot in there either.  I do want us to be ready so go in, do well and lay some smackdown.  A friend GM from another guild was telling me about their attempts in MV and I was amazed – they have a raid tested and proven raid team and they are dealing with laziness, how in hell will we do.  We have a largely untested raid team – all seemingly good players in heroics and in LFR – aside from me – so how will we go as a group.

This is one of the reasons I want to get in there ASAP, if people can’t handle it, I want to know sooner rather than later.  I want to make sure we get the best group we can. I want to be like the Frosties (who i miss immensely) and be getting heroic final boss kills for mounts and achievements. I don’t want to be scraping for kills an xpac later.

Small things weighing on my mind huh ?!??

In other news though, the guild is a smidge off getting to level 25!!  When I logged off last night it was 82% through level 24, so it may even happen today if we are lucky.

I have done no pet battles, in fact the idea of having to level my actual pets makes me want to cry.  As far as I can tell, and I have been so focused on raiding plans I have ignored reading everything else, I have to move my pets to areas of the same level…but really…effort – not something I have at the moment with that 🙂

Dailies.  Yes I have been Mrs Slack when it comes to those little buggers!  I was diligent the first few days and did ALL of them, but now…I am just not even doing any – mainly because I am trying to get heroics happening to get people gear, and doing runs for people as well.  I spent a couple of hours last night chasing the Lorewalkers thing instead of doing “important” dailies :p  But I now have a cloud to fly around on!!  I shall probably seriously start my dailies again this week.  Maybe.  …  possibly.

I also got over my fear of starting a PUG group and organised one for Sha of Anger.  Well really i just invited a bunch of people who then took over and I really couldn’t be bothered arguing.  But hey, I started it instead of not…so kudos to me 🙂  I was a little mortified when they started booted everyone below 90 and abusing them for being moochers and they should be leveling instead of trying to get loot off raid bosses.

Sorry for the long post and no pictures 🙂 but wrap your arms around yourself and have a free hug from me – if you made it this far you deserve it!

Didn’t raid last night :(

Up, down, up, down, up, down.

I swear I feel like I am on a roller coaster that I just can’t get off because the guard is laughing maniacally at the gate and pushing the machine to go faster, pussycat, faster!!

We had 5 people online last night, so we are hoping Thursday is a go.  I really thought given we smashed through 6 bosses on Sunday that people would be all busting chops to go… 😦

I have found myself looking at guilds again…secretly…when I think I am not looking….it’s pathetic – I agree – but I just can’t shake the feeling that I am completely and utterly addicted to the game and raiding specifically.

Still on Spine

We are so close on Spine it is not funny. Last night we just cocked up every single attempt with something silly and it just caused a night of annoyance really.

The best we got was to the last tendon with about 20% left, but then we got overrun with bloods as the amalgamation was blowing up for what would have been our 1st kill.

Long boring brain dump 😀 Feel free to skip the rest!  I won’t be offended.

Heroic madness in guilds

So, either my current is guild is really far behind the 8 ball or I am severely confused by the game.

I have spent a little bit of time today trolling forums and sites for guilds and all I can find are heroic heroic guilds.  All looking for heroic players. I am concerned by this as it means I am going to have a very hard time applying to anything.

We have not even cleared DS yet – this is not going to give me a fair chance when competing for spots.  I also have very little experience in the way of heroic content – and although I am very capable of said content – I can’t prove that beyond the world of logs I can produce now that show me sucking balls most of the time because I am raid leading, so having to tell people when to scratch their noses.

I don’t want a hardcore guild where I feel that my dps being 2k lower will affect my chances of the next raid, but I don’t want to be in a guild with people who can’t seem to watch a counter and fact when needed.  I am not saying I want a guild of experts, but a guild of people that can think and not need other people to be constantly telling them what is happening…do we really need someone calling out when hour of twilight is casting so you can push the damn button?  Do we really need to call out to remind people to jump into the twilight onslaught because the game screaming it and DMS screaming it just isn’t enough?

I was hoping to slip into a guild doing 7/8 or 8/8 and working on heroics, but all i can find are 5/8 or fully cleared…is DS really that easy?  or are the smaller guilds not recruiting publicly on forums etc.  I am not in game all the time so I don’t get to watch the trade spam and even if I am in game I am generally not lounging around in a city doing nothing.

I have always been under the impression you don’t apply for guilds way above your level because it is just silly really, but given we are coming into the end of an xpac, do you think it is acceptable to now?

MoP Information :D and raid teams

I was refreshing my screen last night on MMO-champ so I could sink my teeth into some information, and was a little disappointed to be honest…there wasn’t all that much new stuff up there.  Yes, there was some…but most we were told at Blizzcon…so meh really.

I love the new girly pandas – they may be my new draenai (most of my toons are draenai).  I like their pudgy but sexy shapes 🙂  The couple of faces in the screenshots are cute as well.

I am wrapped about the extra toon slot, as I was just last week trying to decide which low level toon was never going to get played again to make room.  This way I can finish them off instead of deleting them!  Although in honesty I would have just moved it off server if I got desperate.

I am still reading up on the information as so many sites are putting everything out there – as you would expect.  I did have a brief read of the Monk talents and I love the Ox charge thing….sounds cool, but the rest sound like normal sort of talent things – until we see animations etc 😀

I read on WoWinsider briefly something about mini farms? Sounds fantastic if it isn’t a joke….maybe…LOL…but then I am not entirely sold on the battle pets…I liked my non combat pets and collecting them – I didn’t need to be doing anything with them.

I was reading as much as I could before we started raiding, which in the end didn’t happen because we were short again.  I put some feelers out there for an alliance of sorts with another guild who are also short, and when the GM and I brought it to the guild for discussion last night, I basically got told “no way” to an alliance.  So, I am guessing from the reaction people would prefer not to raid at all if we are short.

Ok, I should be fair and give the full concept – we are always 2-3 short for raiding at the moment.  What the guild wants is to just whisper this potential other guild and pull people in when we need it, and vice versa, they can whisper us and see if anyone wants to raid if they are short.

The two problems being we raid roughly the same nights and we have more consistent players then they do…So I can understand the guilds concern about us moving and altering our team just to fit in one or two more people…especially since they raid slightly earlier as well.

GAH!!!  Sometimes I just wish guild recruiting was easier 😀

Meltdown

I had a minor meltdown last night, sucks to be a girl sometimes, anyway – i declined to raid as I just couldn’t handle my own lack of brain power last night, let alone dealing with 9 other people.

The guild got to Zon’ozz and couldn’t get passed him without me 🙂  Well I like to think it was me.  Only because I bounce the ball and have done since we started learning the fight – being that I have cauterize as a fire mage it helps that I can take a hit 🙂  I would like to try it as frost as well because I have my ice shield.  I tend to do most of the running with maybe one of the healers coming with me, so the damage can get quite high.

So I jumped online for him and Hagara – said basically nothing and just ensured they got through it because I would hate to think that me not raiding prevented them from getting through bosses.  To be honest I am glad I did because our pally tank finally got gloves – something he has been waiting ages for and keeps missing out on.

We are hoping to have the full team on Sunday so perhaps we can actually kill Warmaster this week and move past the block of the attendance boss.  Killing a new boss may give us a chance to recruit some more as well, propel us forward a little. We may even find spine dies quickly – fingers crossed 🙂

Let's play catch up

I have been just sooooo busy lately. Time to get a catch up on here!

So we finally cleared ToC as a guild!  YAY!  We got to Anub in on night and had a shot on him, we then spent the next night – all night – working on him.  Our third attempt we got him to like 6% and we were all excited about that, but then we proceeded to just fail because people didn’t do their job.

Anyway after much fucking about, we spanked him on our last attempt.  So was a good way to end the night!  Now we just have to work on farming the content.

The twins were not so hard either, we 2 shot them once we figured out how to actually do the fight and changed our strat slightly.  But all in all a very easy fight if you ask me 😀

So now to just get Ony and Ulduar down/on farm before patch 3.3. I don’t want to be going into Ulduar once the new content comes out…not that the guild knows that yet 😀  But I want to ensure we spend as much time on the new content as possible as I want to see the Lich King die!  heheeh

My pc is having more and more problems with WoW – this last week I have had to repair it at least 5 times due to wow errors, I also have such severe screen tearing I can barely see the boss 😀  But I am hoping to get a new PC early in the new year if all goes to plan!

We have recruited a couple of new people, but have also lost a couple to girlfriends/wives aggro. So that makes it difficult to manage.

We also had one of our best DPS switch to a healing class to help us, which is a learning curve for all of us as we have lost a high dps but have scored a healer/dps class.  Need to gear up, learn to play and most improtantly remember that until he is geared and skilled in the class he is not going to be cracking 5k DPS like he used to 🙂

But it has already proved to be a great idea as he has switched to healing/ele a couple of times when needed and been able to handle both circumstances.

I am very lucky to have some of the people i have in thsis guild – they keep me sane when it all seems to be going down the toilet 😀

Will try to update more this week.

New recruits

We have 2 new players to the guild this week, a DK and a Fury warrior.

Teh DK has raiding experience in WOTLK which is good, and is roughly up to the same stuff as us.  Teh warrior has no raiding experience but has made an effort to at least read the fights etc so was pretty impressed with him last night when he managed to survive most of the time.

The warrior needs gear as does the DK, but not huge amounts, a couple of runs through ToC/Ulduar and ONy when we kill them shoudl probably get them some gear fairly quickly. Even last night they both picked up a peice each due to the plate drops.

So all in all they seem to be fitting in and we seem to be doing ok. Just need to find a healer unless our druid decides to stay with us again since we are doing well at the moment.

Not sure about it and we shall see what happens in the next few weeks.
