Rollercoaster week of fame!

I say fame, but really…there was not really any!

I was/am stoked with the huge response the mogging competition is receiving – twitter went crazy and so many of my blogging friends have spread the excitement to others. I cannot thank people enough for the interest shown so far and I am so excited about the comp starting on the 26th!

I was amazingly asked to guest on twisted nether but sadly, my greatest dream (remember starstruck?!?) hasn’t come to fruition because of timing – I cant do live shows at 3pm my time 😦 but I would give my left arm to be on there!! Being asked to be on podcast is such a nice feeling, I just wish we could tee up a time – slight devastation on my part! I have been listening to TNB for a while and part of the BA community for years silently hoping one day I would get noticed, finally it happens – and I can’t do it!

(Yes, that sounds as pretentious to me as it does to you!!!! But I swear it comes from lack of confidence rather than arrogance!)

Speaking of podcasts, the mogging competition was mentioned on another podcast and linked back to the main page! It was a quick and to the point mention but had me blushing all the same! Thank you Group Quest!

Of course the shared topics on BA have had some responses as well – fantastic to see people commenting about missing them being available, but I am busting brain cells trying to think of more topics so they can keep going! We need moar!!!

What’s that saying about fame being a harsh mistress? Is that right or have I confused two and melded them together? Either way, it has been such a boost for me to see the interest and excitement I have managed to create since coming back and I hope others continue to build the community back up!

Thanks everyone! I adore every single person who visits me, reads me and gets something out of my blog.

Blog Azeroth – revamping

One of the things I missed the most about not playing wow, was the blogging community and BA with their shared topics.  Getting to read multiple blogs, find new ones and make new friends was not something I did as it just made my addiction harder to ignore.  So after a couple of weeks of playing and settling back into the game, I decided it was finally time to jump back on the forums and see where it was up to.

I was devastated to see that it was sort of dead…not many shared topics being done or many new posts…so…thankfully I am still a mod, so had some ability to go crazy :p  I have added some shared topics, in the hopes of sparking some imagination in others, so far I don’t want to have each week something I have posted, so please please please please please add some more so I can put them in between mine!!!

I also went ahead and created a FB page for BA…it may help keep people more up to date rather than going to forums, only because so many people are on FB all the time now anyway.  I am wondering if moving to a FB group might even be a possibility…??  For the moment, I just want to get the community more active again and see if we can’t get it hopping.

Facebook for Blog Azeroth

Please, if you love blogging and The Twisted Nether Blogcast, share the FB page, like it, comment on posts and add some shared topics to the main forums please!!  Let’s get involved with each other again!!!

MIA

I am sort of missing in action at the moment as I am just having so many issues going on in my RL I can’t spare the time or the motivation to blog.  Although I have a fair few posts I could write about all the things happening at the moment, I just can’t find the energy.

Life sometimes beats you down so much that you can barely find the will to stand, we have all experienced it at some point.  We all deal with (or not as the case may be) it differently and have very different coping starts.  However I am way beyond the ability to cope with everything at the moment.

I still love blogging, and I love my WoW, I love my readers and my commenters and everything the blogosphere has brought into my life this year, but unfortunately it does not solve the real life issues that crop up and so my focus is now on other aspects of my life. What is pathetically horrible is that all it boils down to is my inability to find a job.  I am not unemployed at the moment, but I am not in a job that suits – aside from me travelling for just over 2.5 hours to get to work each way, I am working with my parents which brings a whole swag of issues, plus the huge pay cut I took doing it to help out when my mum had her nervous breakdown thinking – stupidly as it turns out – that I could get another job with a snap of the fingers, I spend most days bored out of my mind because I complete things 3 times faster than my mum does.

Anyone who has been job hunting or constantly rejected knows how horrible it can feel, and after 18 months of not even having one interview and redesigning my resume over 5 times, I am in a very bad mental place where I cannot hope to even be a good blogger – not that I was ever good per se.  I do not want my feelings to spill over into my wow life and so I will still be reading your posts and looking up blogs, but you will not likely see me comment much because I just don’t have the capacity right now.  Job hunting in NSW as well as VIC is going to take its toll on me and I cannot think of anything worse than making harsh or snippy comments and risking friendships because I am grumpy.

I am not sure when I will be back blogging again, it may never happen, but for those who want to add me and chat in game Dragonray 1445  is my battle tag.  I am still in game fairly often so more than happy to have a chinwag with people.

Catching up…slowly

I was away last weekend from Thursday to Monday night, and missed a whole bunch of stuff like transmog events and such.

I am slowly catching up, but it will take a few days I think, I am trying to set up some posts and I was halfway through a shared topic that I didn’t get to post, the one about head cannon, and it was such a long winded waffly post, I may just post it anyway!  Yeah I am a rebel!

I have no idea what I missed on twitter, and I am not going to go backwards through it all!!

I only remember last night to check my friends requests in game and had about 16 spam messages…really?!?!  SPAM!!!?  I was amazed!!  No I don’t want to be your friend and buy gold. PISS off Xhygsh!  LOL

I hope everyone is well and I will try and catch up on blogs when I can, hugs and kisses!

End of the Mogolympics

The Olympics have come to an end! Check out my page for all my outfits!

I was amazed at the oufits people put in and have found some new items I am going to have to try and find, then replicate outfits.

Overall I won a silver medal for my hammer throw design and I was so ecstatic to even have been considered for a medal.

Silver medal winner!

I also came close on another outfit, but overall I was thrown out of the packs pretty early 🙂

I think the judges must have had a horrible time trying to sort through over 40 entries for each event, I think they did a fantastic job sticking with it.

I guess the thing with transmog is it is a very personal thing, the outfits I preferred were generally earlier on in the events, and didn’t make it very far into the placings.  However I was having fun trying to guess who did what outifts based on their own personal styles 🙂

Overall, it was fantastic, and I think everyone had a great time doing it and participating in the event.  I am jealous that my outfits didn’t win every single event – except for my discus event which even I thought sucked!  I am also jealous that I didn’t get to judge them either…HAAHHA !!  cake and eat it syndrome I know 🙂

JD has even created an entire website dedicated to all the outfits – it will be updated over time so be sure to keep checking it out 🙂

This was one of the most exciting things I have ever done in the community, and I have amazed myself at how insane I got about checking websites for updates, and comparing all the outfits and just drooling over shields, headpieces, weapons…words can not express how awesome this was 🙂

Thanks everyone who was involved with this. You are all awesome.

Shared Topic: Flavours of WoW

Cymre asked a very yummy topic this week..involving Ice-cream!  Really, ice-cream and WOW in the one sentence 🙂  AWESOME!!!

It would not be uncommon to hear about the initial release of World of Warcraft as Vanilla or Classic. In terms of ice cream or gelato (which is my preference), Vanilla was once considered the most popular flavour of it’s time. So if Vanilla represents Classic WoW, what flavours could represent the following expansions?

I want to be able to change the flavour of Classic WoW as well, but alas I can’t 🙂  So with that in mind we shall soldier on!

Burning Crusade was a pretty good xpac, it hasn’t been my favourite so far, but it came in second which is why I went with Cafe Grande. It is a coffee based ice cream with nuts mixed in covered in chocolate.  It has fantastic flavours and a fair bit of crunch for the harder raiding, but overall smoothness of a great story and fantastic artwork.

Wrath of the Lich King was my favourite expansion.  I loved every single aspect of it, I levelled with my hubby and best mate all three of us in a group exploring and enjoying the stories.  I loved the Viking theme, I love the Ice theme, ICC was a fantastic end raid, Ulduar was also kick arse.  Dalaran was beautiful and I don’t think they could get it any more perfect if they had tried.  Wrath is cookies and cream by Connoisseur. No other brand will come close to the magic they have captured in that tub of perfection.

Cataclysm, was an expansion that felt like someone else had made it. To me, if felt like they had tried to capture the epic feel of vanilla WoW with some great added benefits and changed rules.  Whilst I can agree the world is much better now with the changes to questing and levelling, and things like LFR, I feel a little “meh” about the whole thing.  This is more my issue than Blizzard’s though as I left after just hitting 85 and came back too late into just starting Firelands to really enjoy it.  I did not get to work on my legendary, I did not get to do as many achievements as I normally would, I have done nothing overall this expansion that makes me happy.  For that reason I am making Cataclysm Boysenberry ice cream.  It will never be as good as I wanted it to be when I buy it, there will be too much Vanilla and not enough Boyseberry or vice versa. It will never live up to cookies and cream, but it can hold it’s own 🙂

Mists of pandaria, what an exciting time for us all, soon to be in the land of the pandas with completely new class and race combo once again, with new talents – no more cookie cutters?, no more big bad at the end trying to crush us all into oblivion.  This is going to be a peaceful expansion, an enjoyable jaunt through a new continent.  New pets and mounts and farming and so much new stuff I have no idea how i am going to be able to do it all!!!  It’s like an street fair with everything going on and you can’t decide what to do next because you want to do all the things!!!  For this reason it is Cold rock ice cream for me.  I know not techincally a flavour, but I would use a Vanilla base and add in a little bit of everything I could – M & M’s, mars bars, gummy bears, snickers, snakes alive, coke bottles, tim tams, jaffas…anything!!

So check out the other bloggers views on ice cream, I think we all need some now after reading through all these posts!!

Transmogolympics: Discus!

Discus Event – LIVE!

Once again fantastic commentary,  is this the first one with duplicate outfits? Spectacular outfits though 🙂

Gold Winner!!

Check out my transmog page for my outfit 🙂

In truth discus was the one event I re-did about 12 times, in the end I put forward the most appealing.  I could not get this right at all.

Laid Back Raid Ulduar

I went on a LBR this morning to Ulduar 🙂

We started off with barely 10 of us and by the end we had swelled to 20, new people being added every couple of bosses or so.  It was pretty enjoyable, slightly scary to start off as JD was “tanking” (he had tank gear on right, that counts???) and all of us were stealing aggro like maniacs, I am surprised we didn’t have more death to be honest.  He was a trooper though!!

We killed everything except Yogg and Algalon.  Although we gave both of those bosses 1 attempt – I thought we should have given them each another try, given these are LBR people don’t know the fights, they come to them with very little experience and I think it is a little harsh to expect people to do the right thing first time in.

We wiped on FL as we left all the towers up – but I blame the game for that as my buttons could not be used during the fght from about halfway – I don’t remember ever having that issue, so perhaps it was a mechanic I have forgotten, but it seemed a little glitchy to me.  We then killed all the towers, or so we thought, and spanked him down with the freezing tower up.

We wiped on Ignis with so much damage going on not surprising really, and I think we only had one healer at that stage – correct me if I am wrong.  Then we got a couple more people in and killed him.  I spent most of the time in his crotch pot, which was sweaty and disgusting!!!

Razor we smashed out of this world – and killed her before she took off again, XT we killed the heart on and then managed to smack him to bits which was also pretty cool.  We killed the council without too much trouble although it was a little messy.

Kologarn we were trying to get the achievement for not killing his arms, but discovered that an unnamed guildie of mine was attacking the right arm instead of the chest, so we managed to kill him, but without the achievement 🙂  We went to Hodir next and managed to get both chests open on that one, I think people got caught in the first flash freeze, ut then after that it was just the NPC’s mainly, so that was pretty good if you ask me, it is one hell of a messy fight!  Auriya killed us by accident as we were taking too long in killing some adds, so we came back in and she layed some smack down on our tank – literally one hit wonder- I swear!!  We got her on the third attempt as we had a couple of others come in to supplement, and she went down like a sack of potatoes.

Freya got pulled before we were ready, and although we lasted quite a while, it was a little premature – given we left all three extras up for hard mode, so we reset her and then came back in and got her easily without the extra extra adds.  That is one hell of a messy fight and never ever ceases to amaze me!!  Then we did Thorim and spanked the bejesus out of him not very exciting at all, my guildies main concern was the lack of Jorgmunger at the start 🙂  Mimiron was easy, although I dc’d just as the middle bit started firing at me, and by the time I got back in I was dead in flames!!

I spent most of the fight wanding it up against General Vesax and just sort of doing nothing, then failed miserably on Yogg, I went in and killed the tentacles and then went insane because of the stupid stupid skull sucking insane thing.  Algalon, would have gone ok, except we had lost a fair few by then due to lunch, so we called it after the wipe on him.

All in all, I had a very very enjoyable run today, it was nice to just be chilling out and not really paying attention to much except having a laugh.  There were so many people getting achivements!!  It was amazing, I was so excited for them all to be getting them 🙂

The most embarrassing moment of course is me telling my hubby that Kerise was Kamalia and I was far too chicken to even talk to her….so he actually SAYS THAT in raid chat!

*embarrasmment crits for 1000000 overkill*

Then when she had to leave I got this whisper, and the coolest thing I could think of to say back…..was with a smiley face….seriously!??!!?  I suck!

There were a few other bloggers in there that I was all excited to see the names of, but I couldn’t bring up the courage to chat to them privately so I just stuck to chatting in raid chat 🙂

Shared Topic: Lifechanging?

This week’s Blog Azeroth Shared Topic is suggested by Effraeti.

Very simply:

How has WoW changed your life?

Oh, you wonderful woman for suggesting such a topic, this could be a horrifically waffly post, which I love doing 🙂  There may even be pictures involved if I can find them 🙂

I have been trying to write a post for the last 3 days about how wow has changed my life and I am really struggling to put into words the changes. How can I describe the sense of achievement I get when we kill bosses, the feeling I am contributing to something with others, how do I explain to you the friendships I have built and am building every day with new people who are fun and interesting and worthwhile?

Is it even possible to put into words the comfort I get from throwing fireballs with my bare hands at huge ugly mobs when I am having a bad day, or the overwhelming pride when I kill someone in PVP before they kill me and recognise that I have actually improved my skills, or the enjoyment I get from reading and improving my character in game.

Wow has changed me in so many ways, and I don’t want to sound like a primary school teacher here, but it has taught me a lot about team work, co-operation, dealing with difficult personalities, enjoying my ability to find information, making friends – the list is endless.  I just wish it could change my temper, although it seems to be one of the few things that sets my temper off, well not the game but ignorant people 😀

I am still learning things every day and WoW is still changing my life, not just through the game but through the community.  Blogging, twitter, jogging etc have all shown me that there is a huge world out there of people to meet and things to do.  I hope WoW never stops changing my life because I could not honestly imagine waking up one day and finding it not there anymore.

Here are links to some of the other bloggers post, make sure you bring tissues – you may need it for a couple of them!

Transmogolympics – Hammer Throw!!

JD has done the most awesome commentary on the Hammer throws!!

I have been laughing like a maniac since I started reading…

Here is the post he has up 🙂

The winner – Undercity!

Gold Medal Winner!!

From the looks of it, I appear to have a silver medal in the Hammer Throw 🙂  SQUEEEEE!!  Check out my transmog page for my outfit!  I think I have checked the post over 5 times to make sure I am reading it right, that I won a medal, I am so happy 🙂 I was hoping to win just one, I can die now 🙂

Chibis!!

I have more chibis to show off today!!  I am so in love with chibis at the moment, I am going to get some more done of my other toons – purple nurple needs one, and my sexy pally 🙂  But I will leave that a while yet…perhaps another artist as well, just for a different style 🙂 They are so awesome!!

Here is my mage!!  I wanted the arcanist set and my elemental mage staff.  Although I love my Robe of the void, I am still having trouble transmogging it with gear, so for the moment I am going with classic style 🙂  I wanted her to have brown eyes and black hair and a blue streak, so she is similar to me IRL 🙂

Isn’t she just spanking 🙂  I prefer my mage as a Draenei, but as I am now a BE i felt it was appropriate to have one that looks like her – both of her in chibi form are so beautiful that I am in awe of people that can do this kind of artwork!!

I requested the Kirin Tor familiar before I even had it, so hence why I made such an effort to get them done.  I wanted to not feel guilty 😀

I also requested a dragon sitting in a treasure mound and looking friendly and happy.  When I think of dragonray, that’s what always comes to mind.  It has been a nick name I have used since I started using mIrc a hundred years ago 🙂  I wanted her to be violet, purple, blue as they are my favourite colours and I am very happy with the outcome.  I gave Sleepingfox free reign and told her to just draw what she wanted aside from the colours, oh, and she had to have wings 😀

My boomy, well regular readers will know I love my boomy…I am obsessed you could say.  I wanted a goofy looking oomkin with that fantastic staff behind her.  I loved how she turned out as well.  Goofy all over 🙂  I am so enamoured of the cute little tails as well, on both of them, I want to just tickle them.

My original Chibi is the background on my iPhone, these three are going to be added to my mac, ipad and pc…not sure of the order yet – I may switch them all around, and once i receive the original chibi (as it was a painting), I am going to get these guys printed and framed as well – I want to get them all the same (or similar) size 🙂  I have a lovely blank wall for them to go on that I face when I am at my computers.

I am also going to get my hubby to create some backgrounds for me – for twitter and my blog(s) using them so I can use them there as well! SQUEEEEEE

I am in Chibi heaven.

Making friends and warm fuzzy feelings!

I need to start this off my saying I am not great at making friends in person, online though; I am not nervous or shy. I think the benefits of essentially being unknown is that you can take a few moments to compose responses or think of witty responses to things.

Most people would consider me an extrovert, however I consider myself an introvert until I really feel comfortable in the company.

I have been blogging since 2009 about WoW and really, I made very little attempt at making friends or getting out there in the blogosphere for fear of rejection or ridicule.  Anyway once I decided to put myself out there and just start talking to people no matter how dumb I felt, I found an entire new world of basically very very lovely people.  One being Navimie.  Anyway, you all know how beautiful she is,  recent experiences have shown how much you all love/appreciate/enjoy her.

Shared topic: are you playing the beta

So, once again Frinka has suggested a topic for Blog Azeroth the week.

Are you playing the MoP Beta? Why or why not? How much time are you spending there vs. the “live” servers.

Like a few other posts I have read, I was dying to get a beta key, in fact it was basically why I joined the annual pass. It was the first beta for WoW I have ever received. I missed out on all the others.

When I finally got access, I spent almost a week trying to get the darn thing to download and when I finally had enough game data to play I jumped in – not caring that there was less functionality than a hole in the ground.

As most know, the crowding was insane and questing was essentially impossible, however with all things combined I wondered whether I really wanted to play the beta after all 🙂 solidified by people advising just recently they had to redownload up to 20gb again or something….I was very glad I decided to not bother.

So to answer the question, I played beta for about 30 minutes in total. I have since tried to avoid all the pretty stunning pictures and information about the quest lines. I want to experience it all fresh and free from subjective opinions based in the grumples in the community.

I am going to start investigating the raids though so I can plan a little better, but with just over a month to go, I am pretty excited.

So slack of me, but here is some link love for those who posted about this as well:

Shared Topic: Custom Fit Professions

Effraeti brings us a colourful topic on Blog Azeroth this week :

Professions are fun for some and a necessary evil for others.

Some of us have farming professions. Some of us have crafting professions. Some of us have a little bit of everything! Professions are leveled because they fit our style of play, help us in raiding, allow us to outfit our alts, and make us money.

What professions do you have on your main? Do his/her professions fit their personality? Why did you choose them? If you chose professions based on your character and not on gaming needs, would that change some of their professions they use?

(This can include the secondary professions of archaeology, fishing, cooking, and first aid too!)

Such a long and detailed post this is going to be, as you know, I never do anything by halves 🙂 Here is my story…

Transmogolympics Update

It is on!!!

Apparently of the 77 entrants we only had approx 50 people pass the time trials, so poor judges now have two weeks to get them all sorted and voted.  Of course I am going to win every event so I think we could just end it all here right?? HA!

I wish.

Anyway the schedule is as follows :

  • Week One: Hammer Throw, Cycling, Discus
  • Week Two: Archery, Javelin, Wrestling
  • Week Three: Freestyle, Equestrian, Fencing

I think all of us are now just standing around freaking out about the waiting time, I know it is only a couple of weeks, but I want to see all the outfit and compare my awesome to everyone else’s 🙂

Updated Information

Good Luck to everyone and let the games begin!

LFR should come with a warning

I jumped online last night to run an LFR with a twitter friend @mementh.  He finally got this legendary daggers – GRATS!!  and I wanted to see his wings 🙂

So we did the second half of LFR with some friends of his and generally it went ok.  Had some issues on Spine – I think the tank was new perhaps – he was just kiting the mob around everywhere – it was painful.

We wiped, but not after a load of abuse by a lot of people 🙂 Poor guy should really read up about what he is going to attempt before walking in and thinking 24 people are not going to have a go at you for fucking it all up.

Whilst waiting for him to be ready, I remembered that there should be a pending realid request if I was any sort of lucky!  THERE WAS!!!  EEP!

Anyway I was far too excited to actually have another blogger added to my realid list, I feel so special that people even want to talk to me at all.  I am sure they have many people waffling on to them all the time though,  fielding like 300 whispers is probably not easy anyway.

I didn’t really do much else, it was late when I got home and then after cooking dinner etc, I really was just exhausted.  But overall I had an absolutely fantastic night.
