Dumbest things I have done recently

So returning to a game you love is pretty difficult because it is amazing the amount of information you forget that at one time seemed really important, but that you don’t realise you have forgotten, because like a remembral – you can’t remember what it is your forgot, even if you do know that you have forgotten something.

I have spent the last month trying to find Evocation in my spellbook, because I realised I had a glyph for it, but wasn’t using it. I spend about 15 minutes every night trying to find it thinking I have missed it on each page, I checked my talent trees to see if it something I needed to spec into now, and concluded I was crazy because it was gone.  I finally decided this morning to google it…turns out…I am using rune of power (duh – which I knew) but that is what replaces evocation!  IDIOT!!!  IDIOT!!!!!!

Of course, that is nothing compared to the idiocy of last night.  I discovered noxxic has a list of approx DPS at differing gear levels, which is goddamn fantastic!  I am of course nowhere near for any of my toons – but it certainly gives me something to aim for so I know what I should be doing.  Anyway I found this after some heroics last night in which my boomy could not get above 20k and infact the healer was beating me in kitty form as resto – she is very well geared though at 550 something whereas I am only barely scraping into the 470 area.  However according to noxxic I should be able to hit about 70k dps….LOL…sure thing buddy!!

I decided then to try and find more hit on my gear somehow, after complaining to the hubby about the lack of hit on boomy timeless isle gear and how I had to reforge all the spirit off because it was useless to me, he advised to check out Mr Robot. I was reticent, but did it anyway and it was telling me to reforge back into spirit – enter my tirade about spirit being useless I don’t need mana regen blah blah blah…..yeah…you can all laugh at me now.  Spirit = hit for some classes.  What is worse, after the hubby had finished laughing at me I remembered the hundreds of disputes I had seen in LFD because DPSers had taken gear with spirit (boomies and SP’s mainly – I am sure there was another class as well – I want to say shammies??).  How could I forget something so instrumental to the classes?

I guess this is the joy of coming back to a game 12 months later, you do forget things and need to spend time re-learning.  I know I am still trying to learn how to play again, I am better on my mage because I have played her for so long, but with other toons I am really struggling to get into the swing of it.  Heroics are also very hard as most of the time I am running with people who are very well geared and hitting the 180k+ DPS mark, which means mobs die faster than I can cast a spell – on both my mage and my boomy.  It makes it hard to see where I am sitting in reality and harder to judge what I need to improve.

I know on my mage in LFR I can sometimes be in the top 10 for damage and hitting just over 100k DPS, but according to noxxic I should be hitting 250k + dps…as a frost mage at my gear level and that is not maximum – that is realistic….no way!?!?!?!?  I have to spend some time on a dummy and test out wtf I am doing wrong as I am missing out on a lot of dps.  I need to examine combat logs of mages and see what they are doing that I am not.    Anyway, I am sure, like the previous things, there is something I have forgotten to do….I just have to find out what that is!!!

 

 

Paladin got to the top!!

Woot!  My sexy pally chick made it to 90!!  So happy about that, not only because it means I am max level with the frosties and can actually do stuff with them now, but I also scored a sweet arse achievement, which I was no even aware of previously…I wonder if there are more for getting more toons to 90…I should ask Owl, he has like 11 I think he said…complete nutter!!  I couldn’t do it…some classes are just not suitable playing companions for me 🙂

My last part to 90 was spent in dungeons…strangely, Oom said he would come along and when we tried to sign up with him we couldn’t…the LFD system told me he was too high to do normals, and when Oom tried to sign up it said heroics only.  My guess it is ilevel based?  I have to look into it.  I think it is annoying that max levels can’t sign up for normal dungeons….if that is indeed the case.  So, in the end although others had offered to run some normals with me (and forgotten *cough* *cough*) it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.  I will make them pay with heroics though…”sorry I lost my taunt button???”  <insert evil MUHAHAHAHA here>.

Also hubby brought his druid back to Frosties, figured it was easier as it was already in the guild so just did a guild transfer.  He is slowly levelling, I think he is 88 he said?  I was so focused on getting to 90 I was pretty neglectful 😦  But we ran some dungeons together and that helped him get some xp, so all very useful in the end.

I am terrified of having to get my gear sorted, in fact, I spent some time on the Timeless gathering more gear and I basically have a prot set (armour only) and trying to gather enough coins to buy the shield/weapon.  And I spent all the money I had gemming/chanting it up…I am pretty broke now, but thankfully I got to 90 without setting foot in most of the map, so I will just slowly start questing the areas to open up dailies and get me some money to pay for flasks/repairs.

I did create a bank alt so I can offload stuff to the AH and hopefully that will bring in some cash..but it is a slow burn on that.

I asked the Frostie GM what spec my second should be – I have no immediate plans to raid but if I am online and they are short I would rather have my toon ready for it.  Prot will be her main – always has – but he advised DPS was more an issue than heals.  So Ret she is, with her second set of almost complete timeless isle gear, I spent some time on the dummy and was hitting 32k consistently, with half ret/half prot gear, so I think I can potentially increase that without much effort once I start getting gear.  Of course I am nowhere near the hit cap, and my expertise is short of where it needs to be on either set, but I haven’t upgraded any gear yet  (not enough VP) and some of my gear is still really low level.

For reference hit needs to be 7.5% and expertise 15%  – I am apparently slightly over the hit cap…well bugger me…I was sure I was under, which means I can reforge into expertise now and get that sorted 🙂

 

MoP Stuff

I hit 90 on my mage last week and have been just trying to get my gearscore up.

I am playing arcane at the moment as it appears to be the only spec I can get more than 15k out of…which is weird given I have seen myself shoot upwards of 80k as arcane…I can’t even understand why I suck so much in the other specs.

We are still recruiting 2 DPS for the guild for our core raid team, which sucks, I had hoped we would be able to nab people whilst leveling and during this preparation period.  We really are just wanting some solid players who can avoid the bad stuff and be part of the team – no idea why that is so hard!

We have only about 4 other people at level 90 and a couple more almost there..they took their time and I am itching to get back into raiding.  We were hoping to head in tonight, but since we are so short on people, it may have to wait until next Wednesday at this stage.  Fingers crossed we can get some of us into LFR tonight as a finger dipping exercise.

Not much to report really, hubby has gotten his monk to 86 since release, a few more days and he will be 90 and able to get some heroics under his belt.  YIPPEE!!

I am doing my dailies as often as I can, and I am close to getting my cloud serpent – I even found 4 eggs on my first day hunting and have not seen any since 🙂 LOL beginner’s luck ran out on me I think 😦

I am loving pandaland though, aside from leveling cooking and the Klaxxis 🙂

Maging it up…arcane style

So, I finally decided to switch back to arcane on my mage.  I haven’t played arcane since…Wrath..I am pretty sure I switched to fire when I came back to Cata after my break.  I was doing some reading and people were saying fire was pretty awesome, comparable to arcane.

I was never a fan of arcane, I am still not really, the play style doesn’t suit me all that well, however the damage is just hard to let go of.  I have been playing fire for a while and the cauterizing was a pretty nice benefit to have, however given we are starting heroics in the guild I thought perhaps having more consistent DPS would be more useful.

So, in LFD I can pull amazing amounts of DPS when I am focused and doing my thing correctly, but for some reason, I can’t get the same numbers in a raid – again.  I am suffering from the raid leader issue, i think,  of watching my timers so closely and calling things out that I am not as focused as I need to be and burning evocates at a bad time therefore stuffing up my burn phase and blah blah.

However saying that I am enjoying playing arcane again and finding my rhythm.  I want to get more out of her, I have to see if I can fiddle some figures around.

So i changed some enchants, upgraded some bits and then on the test dummies I am consistently sitting at 20-21 dps.  I can’t get any higher.  That’s with only self buffs and without my focus magic.  So…add a little in raid and thats the best I can do at the moment, and no…I am NOT going to waste thousands of dollars on upgrading all my gems to the epic ones…they will get upgraded as I get them off our kills.

I have no idea if that is good, bad or mediocre, but that is the calibre of player I am.  Hrmmm, where did I put that simulation craft ……

**** another 20 minutes later****

Yeah, I suck then…even a bad player can get more DPS than I can get out standing still with no buffs….

I am just going to disappear now and try and figure out what the hell I am doing wrong….Of course I could just listen to my hubby that perhaps playing a mage is not for me…but i refuse to believe that..I love my mage.  My mage is my girl.  I can’t change toons now!!  LOL

 

 

Bad Guild Juju and Looking for Guild.

I have just found out, that apparently – another mutiny is occurring in my alliance guild with different people this time – apparently the good players wanting to get rid of the bad players, and are asking for the GL to stand down so they can shake up the raid team.

I am just amazed at the amount of bad juju in this guild.  I must have cursed it or something when I left…I don’t remember doing any curses, but then my mage is very powerful and she is out of control sometimes….

Holy Cow…we actually raided last night.

We raided like men gone mad 🙂

Yes I know there is a 25% buff at the moment, but I tell you what it kicked butt 🙂

We started just after 7.40pm, 9 manning with 2 healers.  We figured we had been 9 manning the first 3 bosses well enough for a while we would just continue,, but honestly, we got all the way to Hagara  with one down and we were doing it fast. We wiped once on Zonozz because the tank forgot the fight :0) it was ok though.  At Hagara we had a guildie come in just to add an extra person, we smashed through Ultrax and Warmaster and buy 9:16pm we had cleared up to our usual spot.

Let me start this post by stating right here and now…I dislike Blizzard’s idea of making it impossible to choose what talents I want!

They have added some absolute crackers to the trees and I am drooling with anticipation….

Huntard on the loose

I forgot to mention that my hunter is now level 40, she dinged yesterday!

She is currently just a playtoy so I can collect pets 🙂 I have the white cat which is a horde quest and goreclaw now as well which is a quest raptor.

Ultimately I want a core hound so am leveling beast mastery. We shall see how it pans out as she is on a US server in a random guild; I created her to be in a friends guild however he left the guild and the server shortly after I created her.

What a massive few days I have had in game!  My god!  I just haven’t had chance to post about everything as real life has as usual, taken up time 🙂

This is going to be a long post, and I will update with some piccies later when I get home…however let’s get started shall we…not sure if this is going to be at all chronological, but we shall see how it travels!

Raiding as fire

I did my first raid the other night as full fire, and it was…interesting….to say the least…I suck at rotations at this stage…I kept getting flustered when things would proc, I have also discovered my UI SUCKS! I have cast bars over other bars and I can’t see boss debuffs, and I can’t seem to locate my dot timers….heheh

I must fix it this weekend. Hopefully before tomorrow night. I also need to make some stop cast macros as I need to get my pyro off asap and not waste time…anyway, these are all things you learn when you change specs 🙂 In all honesty I have just put up with my ui because it is such a daunting task to redo it all….and with arcane I really only needed to watch one thing….

My dps was a little touchy, but that was to be expected given I am learning rotations and getting frustrated with myself when i got it wrong. I was up there at 23k sometimes and then as low as about 12k…most of the time I was in between those…..it’s very spiky damage and I really can’t just look at a dps meter at the end of a fight and expect that to show me anything much….I really should look at the logs and see how I went and what I need to cut out on and who i can compare myself to 🙂

Aside from that I am enjoying fire, there is something satisfying about pyroblasting something three times in a row when you get a great proc run 😀

I am off to do my Ui now….it is going to take me a while and we are raiding tomorrow….so I have to have it done before then.

I uploaded the guild’s Lord Ryo kill onto my youtube page as well, and I am hoping to get the baleroc one up there tonight – if I remember to set it to upload before I go to bed tonight.

Mages, druids and everything in between…

I have completely changed my mage to be full fire spec..I figured I may as well give it a shot – worst case I just have to reforge and gem again if I fail.  I am very hit and miss with it at the moment, I would like to see what it is like in a full raid situation as opposed to heroics – which are very hard to judge anyway.

I have played with the dummies but fire is so crit dependant – I will kick arse for a few moments, then next time it will be lack lustre….I need to up my crit a little more…I am aiming for at least 15% haste – or as close to as possible…..I am currently at 13% so I am not unhappy with that.  I do however need to get some more Zandalari’s done so I can collect my tier 12 pieces – i just really dislike them 😀

My druid is finally level 70!!  YAY!  SO I have a shammy and a druid at level 70 now…..I will keep levelling my druid since I am on a roll with her 😀  My dps is terrible on her in heroics…I went into UK before and most were doing 1500 roughly…I was only cracking 1k when I was AOEing….my rotation is fine, so I can only figure it is my gear….which given what I am wearing I would not be surprised at all!!! Now that I am 70 though I will look at some LW patterns and see if there is anything that will last me a few levels…

Years ago, we (being the three GM’s for our old guild) used to wonder why Blizzard didn’t have these guild services already available.  Now they do!!  Not sure why I am excited about it – I don’t have a guild and no intention of doing one again (at the moment) but I think it is pretty sweet that you won’t lose your guild and all the hard work that is put into one. Also kind of cool that you can rename it as well 😀

I guess my thoughts can change though because I signed up for the annual pass thing and there is a new xpac coming out…it’s a tempting thought to entertain….*innocent face*

I am also potentially going to be raid leading for the guild – however I am not entirely sure what my jurisdiction is or what the expectations of the guild are.  So I have to try and catch my GM for 20 minutes so I can discuss it with him and then work out what the guild wants…hopefully we can all find middle ground…somewhere…..he has basically told me to do it, but I don’t want to if I am not going to be able to push certain things like alts and under geared toons vs seeing content and having fun…..but we shall see….watch this space I guess.

What a weekend :D

So my pally is now on Nagrand, hordeside, my mage will be there next week, and I am going to move my warrior to Amanthul so I can keep in contact with friends, however having said that this real-ID thing is pretty good in that I can still chat with everyone, but I would like to have a toon on the server so I can run with them in things etc if the opportunity arises occasionally 🙂

I went to Ulduar last night and did some of the achievements for the drake, got Razorscale, Ignis and XT…FL we only did 2 of the defenses, we gave 4 a few good attempts, but people just kept dying too early….and he has BUCKETLOADS of health…so I might try and continue with that achievement, but will take a fair bit of effort I think.

I am still trying to decide if I want to start up my own guild again or just join another one…so for the minute all my toons are in bank guilds and I just pug things, making friends and getting my name out there.  I need to get back into research mode to correct a few bits and pieces…

Speaking of which I changed to fire spec…yeah full TOTW/fire 🙂  It is nice to be back but I am so out oif practice I am missing cooldowns and everything….it’s quite nasty, but I am sure after a few weeks I will get back into the swing of it.

Also spent most of the weekend playing with my UI – can I just say – I HATE doing it!! All the prepackaged UI’s are either so over the top you can’t see what is happening in the fight o rso minimalistic I can’t see everything I want to see….I found the most sexy looking UI but I can’t figure out how to toggle some of the options like recount etc….

I also can’t find my old UI that I used to use – it was called Bati’s – and yes I can find that – but it isn’t the same anymore, it is all weird and different to what i used to use….so I am sad about that as well 😦

I will keep looking for my perfect UI, and trying to construct it in the meantime…I am not happy that reflux does not seem to be working for me either, it isn’t saving the set up anymore for some reason no matter how many times I do the commands…so that is also annoying me!!

Anyway, that’s enough from me!!  Time to do some work!!

The Lich king….again

I have a feeling this is going to be a semi constant post 😀

We had an interesting night on him tongiht, we have got phase 1 down – and the transition into phase 2 working quite well, we actually even managed phase 2 better than our previous attempts. We were gettingt he first raging spirit down and the second one was just a little slow, however the third one was not dying until after the second Valk almost.

I think people are too far spread out so when defile hits too many are getting caught in it, I also am wondering if the person who gets targetted orginally just keeps running around the other side of the platform from us if that would help them avoid being in it, but i didn’t manage to cop a defile last night at all to test my theory. We were doing rhe valk with 50% success, some we managed to get other we lost, on one Valk there was a defile patch between us and her….

Too many people are getting done by blue balls 🙂 We are losing people over the edge all the time. Also a couple of attempts when the raging spirit I created turned around and one shotted me, that was pleasant. Then there was the other attempt with the raging spirit did his cone of death and killed me and another clothie, apparently standing to the side only works when the mob is still facing the side 🙂 heeh

Was funny as hell though, we lost our tank at one point and we couldnt figure out why he was so hard to keep up…yep, helps if you repair your gear so the durability is above 0%!!!!!! LOL….Someone was a little keen 😀

All in all, we had a mixed night, we did really wel on some attempts and really badly on others. We are getting the hang of it, but only raiding 2 hours doesn’t really get you the chance to push it…but I think we may have the second phase worked out very soon, just a little more control instead of insanity and we should be good 🙂

On a side note, I know it isn’t the best fight to test it, but I was hitting about 7.5k DPS, which is not huge I admit, but for someone in a mix of 10/25 man gear I reckon it isn’t too shabby 😀 I am sure if I was in a 25 man raid that would go up with the extra buffs, however I am impressed that i am doing that much DPS 😀 Considering I have put in some real effort to get my toon improved, I think it is really showing now 🙂

I am very tempted to try fire considering that is apparently giving arcane a run for its money now….and I love fire 😀 I wanna get my DPS up and will keep reading up and finding out what I can do. I

think having changing my specs slightly for the shielding bonus etc will help, I need to get into the habit of reapplying my shields though as most fights with aoe damage will give me a buff of course I have to balance that out with losing mana due to said shield!

My Pally is no longer an evil hordie :)

Yes I switched her, I will likely move my warrior horde side and make her my first ever male character, although I am not entirely sure about that yet 🙂   I might finish my hunter that is sitting on a US time server though – not sure yet 😀

Anyway – here is the new girl, yes I went spacegoat again 🙂 I like the tails ok!!?!?!

She is fully Prot now, and I am working on her tier 9 gear so I can start pugging the ICC stuff, I have 2 more of the badge pieces to try and get and to be honest if we have an alt run through ICC any time soon for the first four bosses I may see if I can snaffle her a shot 😀

I was tanking some normal runs yesterday – non heroic – to try and get back into the swing of it, made a few mistakes etc, but no one was taking aggro off me and a few of them were trying their damn hardest.  I really feel sorry for actual tanks (which may be me at Cata).  People just don’t get it 😀

It was fun to be on her again, I really enjoy tanking I have to admit.  I like it on my warrior as well, I just think AOE tanking is such less a hassle on the pally 😀 But I am pretty good with my warrior as well I think.  A little more practice and I may be good at it !!  LOL

So I got my warrior to 535 defense and a few of the guilds tanks were helping me get gear etc, one pally in particular made me a fair few pieces of gear, which I cannot thank him enough for. That gear got me to 535, so I went and ran Halls of Lightening….no, not heroic!! LOL but for my first ever real tanking experience I would say it was pretty fucking awesome! I was loving it!

I let a couple of mobs loose accidentally, which I got back as quickly as I could, I only wiped us once as I pulled too many mobs and the whirlwind killed us 😀 The trinket I was after off Loken dropped, so my defence is no at 544, so I can start running heroics…probably not hard ones, but the easier ones I should be fine for..and if I stay within the guild a little I should be ok 😀

We also went to ToC – normal with me on my warrior to get some gear, and one ring dropped…everything else was not any good for me. It was a funny run, we wiped 4 times on NRB, just bad bad luck apparently and people thinking they were out of the fire when they weren’t etc…it was just funny, then on Lord Jaxx, OMG how much a tard am I….I thought I had time to run to the other side of the boss before it started, but no…he chased me, killed me in 3 shots…I am glad it wasn’t a one shot – I have some dignity…but the MT couldn’t stop laughing as he was wondering why the boss was running away and I was pissing myself at being such a retard…basically it was a bit of a laugh fest 🙂 I felt like such a retard!!! But I just couldn’t stop laughing.

We managed to finish it though 😀 I also did the weekly raid on my warrior today as well 😀 I didn’t tank just attempted to DPS. I finally have some money again so will be paying for a DPS spec on her some time this week so I can do a little of both. I basically just want to run heroics with her as much as possible to get some badges for my tier 9 gear 🙂

All in all a very very awesome day! Am very very proud of my tanking abilities 😀

Arcane

I tried to go arcane for last nights raid, and I have to say I really don’t like it as a spec. I much prefer my fire spec, I really can’t help but enjoy the 15k hits with spells.

FFB is just my spec – it suits my gameplay and I like that 😀

GOt some new gear as well recently, new wrists and new dagger, so am sitting on 2400 spell damage when half buffed 🙂

Ulduar and gear:D

So last night in Ulduar, we did really well.   We one shot Auri and her mental pussy cats with one healer and DPS down from the start of the fight, we almost one shot Hodir (we had a false start) and we had a false start on the Iron Council, but that was due to some miscommunication more than anything 🙂  Aside from that though, we didn’t lose anyone on the fights, we did them perfectly.

We trundled up to Thorim after the 9.00pm break and had a few smashes on him, the gauntlet group got to the second mini boss before death ensued, which for our first time on him, was pretty good I think.  Thorim will not be all that hard once we get the hang of it and sort out the groups properly 🙂 

I scored a new helm from Hodir(?) and a new wrist from Iron Council, I have to get them gemmed and chnated tonight.

I think I have to change back to FFB, as my hit is just not high enough to support a TOTW/Fire spec, so my DPS is kind of shitful at the moment, even after regemming everything last night to the epic gems with +23 spell power, I wasn’t hitting 3k DPS.  So I will do thast tonight and keep collecting my hit gear for the totw spec. Apprently FFB is still competitve for DPS, so I might just go back to that spec and deal with the slightly lower DPS, but much improved on what I am now.  If that makes sense.  I can basically drop a fair bit of hit if I go back to FFB and amp it up with crit/spell power.

We decided not to raid lockout this week, simply because on Wednesday we figure we can clear almost everything we cleared this week, last Wednesday was bad due to patches and changed fights etc, so this week should be a smash fest after the maintenance.

Hit rating

Ok, my hit breakdown in english 😀  well my english anyway:

So based on the fact we don’t have an Oomkin all the time – i need my hit to be at (for my fire spec) 420 for most raids and  341 for some...LOL…great fun that will be 😀

Arcane spec – 263 hit rating for most raids.

Hit cap is 446  without any buffs or talents

Draenai buff = 1% or 26 points (approx)

SP or Oomkin buff = 3% or 79 points (approx)

Arcane Mage with Arcane Focus and Precision – 289 hit rating. Faerie Fire or Misery – 210 hit rating. Draenei AND SP or OOmkin – 184 hit rating.

Frost or Frostfire Mage with Precision, – 368 hit rating. Faerie Fire or Misery – 289 hit rating. Draenei AND SP or OOmkin – 263 hit rating.

Fire Mage / Torment the Weak  – 446 hit rating. Faerie Fire or Misery – 368 hit rating. Draenei AND SP or OOmkin – 341 hit rating.
