Day 17: Your favourite spot (in game or outside it)

I have a few favourites spots or places that bring back memories for me.

I love Blackrock Mountain, the whole internal area, with the chains and lava. It reminds me of MC and my first guild and raiding.

I appreciate Dustwallow Marsh, Tanaris and Wetlands for memories of my first guild mates and the joy that could be had with mates just running around questing and laughing about things on vents.

There is a spot in SW in the trade district, that when you sit on the top of the building during the sunset hours, the sun sinks below the cathedral steeples and it just looks magical to me, I do like hanging around SW just for that.

I used to adore sitting on mushrooms in Telredor as well, didn’t matter where, just as long as I was on a mushroom.

In Uldum, there is a massive statue wayyyy up in the air and I found whilst flying around that area lost and I sat there for a little while entranced by it. Whenever I am in Uldum I stop past now 😀

Outside of game, my favourite spot is yet to be determined…I have many plans for overseas travel and I am sure once i get to see Dresden again I will find my spot.

Day 16: Things you miss (Post Cataclysm)

I have been thinking about this one for a while, and I can honestly say, there isn’t much I have been missing – well certainly nothing springs to mind – I honestly believe they keep making the game better.

I love the changes they made to the game, I love the new quest chains and progress.  I think some of the re-done areas are even more wonderful than before.

This is probably a bit of a dud question really – especially given the NEW xpac is on it’s way!!

Day 15 :Your desktop background (on your computer) and why you chose it

I have noticed an increase in people doing this 20 days of thing, and since I got almost finished, I thought I should just finish mine 🙂

So my desktop image was something I just found on deviant art.

The Graceful Odyssey by Shirotsuki - Deviantart

I love this because it is easy to look at for long periods – no glare when my windows are smaller than fullscreen, and the image is very Fey and magical in my mind.  I just love this as a piece of art.

Precious Beth

I may have pissed off a guildie the night before last whilst we were raiding…He hasn’t spoken to me in 2 days and does not respond to my whispers….

Last night, I managed to get sat out of the raid so I didn’t have to worry about it, but it just slightly annoys me that because I offered help – he got snarky and even after I apologized for any offence caused he still decided to shun me.

The issue with a text based conversation I guess –  sarcasm, humour, affection are not conveyed correctly, if at all.  This has annoyed me more than I would like to admit, as I really found him a nice person to chat to and I was not really seeing the precious side of him that everyone warned me of.

Day 14: This upsets me

I am not entirely sure how to answer this one. There are so many things that upset me, but are we talking about in game, external, relevant to me, things I can’t change etc?

Here is my no means a list of things that upset me – in no particular oder:

  • My family – love/hate relationship with some of its members
  • Disrepectful people
  • People using the word rape out of context
  • Funeral plan ads on TV
  • Famous (rich) people complaining about anything
  • Countries that have homeless children/adults living in squalor or starvation without medical help
  • Not being able to find a job
  • Politics
  • Coat hangers that are all stuck together
  • Necklaces that have knots in them and no matter how you try, you can’t get them untangled.
  • Being too nice to speak my mind for fear of consequences

So there is a fairly good list I think, of the things that upset me 😀 That’s a few too many I think!!!

Day 13: People (players/bloggers) that you admire.

I am going to stick with players on this one – I basically did bloggers the other day and gushed about them enough. Unless they want me to gush about them some more and I will edit this post a little 😀

Players –

Kolibear – Koli was a guildie I scored a while back – long time ago and he has stuck by me through thick and thin. He is an absolutely awesome player and manages to do some amazing things when tanking. He and I have always clicked. We never had to struggle to communicate when I was RL – he always knew what I was on about 😀 He always gave perfect solutions to issues and he is not afraid to speak his mind or tell everyone to STFU because they can’t decide what they want him to do now. When I was GL – he was the first to help me out with anything – bank bitch, office bitch, gear checking, forum mod….everything…he did it all with me. I am now just a guildie, I don’t RL or anything, and he isn’t playing much anymore, but he is, and will always be, one of the most important people to me both in and out of this game.

Keeva from Tree Bark jacket (no idea now (Inexorable)). Whilst I was only in her guild for a short time, she impressed me with her depth and sincerity. She managed to create a guild that was my heaven and even just having a tiny slice of it made me eternally grateful for the work she did. She also impresses me – constantly – that she can level the same class a billion times 😀 Then she posts things like this post or this one and make me wish I could have stayed with her and the guild. But my life needed me and I couldn’t justify staying in the game. BIG admiration and regret that I never really got to tell her how much she affected my love of the game. Huge hugs to you Keeva!

My current GL – although he is a little fruitcake about his toons, he is amazing when it comes to knowing everything about them. We joke a lot about how he constantly talks about his DK – talents, specs, gear, chants – everything and anything – the issue is he remembers it all – every number, every permutation. He knows what he should and shouldn’t be doing – I would lay down $100 that he stuffs up his rotation about once in a millennium. His addiction to his characters is amazing – and I admire that he can put in the time and effort to bettering them in every possible fraction. If everyone was as dedicated as him to perfecting his toons – there could be so many more great players out there.

Manastorm (GL of Aces High) – is friends with some people in my guild and pretty much comes raiding with us in old content when we are fluffing about. He is much better geared than I am, but he makes being a mage look like the shizz. I watch his numbers on the dps charts and just sit there drooling, one day I want that to be me!! He is currently what I aspire to be like.

Lominari – My hubby – has always been one of those players that can take a toon and make it his without any issue or too much concern. Where I have played one raiding toon my entire WoW life – he has played many. Rogue, Shammy, Druid, Priest. All in end game and all at different levels and guilds. He does it with ease and I am so very jealous of him because of that. Last Sunday (Fathers day) we came home and found us in time for raid hubby being drunk as a skunk from drinking whisky with my father, was needed and still able to put out the dps and be top or second on the meters….He could barely speak and he was walking wobbly (yeah, you know the wobbly walk) and yet managed to kick arse!! Have another cup of admiration honey 😀

There are a fair few other people that have come and gone in my life, Sienna (mage), Aurich (Pally), Bushido (Warrior), Kat (Druid), Serender (DK), Bomma(Druid), Cayehn (Druid), Bristlebeard (Hunter). So many people to admire and just not enough time 😀 They are all brilliant players and are able to transform a toon into a machine of awesome. If I could have a guild with all those people in it – I would think we could smash through content….Oh the dreams!! 😀

Day 12: Usual Day in the your life/online time.

o.O Day 12 you are a hard one!

The first and last thing I always do for my online time is check my auction house toon.  I suck at playing the AH, but I certainly give it my best shot. Because hubby and I have so many toons on the go, everything that can be sold goes to the AH toon and we attempt to make some money that way.  It isn’t a bad method and it has managed to make me over 8k in one month.  Yes probably slow progress for some of you experts out there, but for me it’s still impressive.  I generally like to put stuff up for sale on Saturday mornings and then sometime during the week (wed/thurs).  I use Auctioneer and just sell everything as an undercut.  I don’t really care about maximum profit – just as long as there is some profit over vendoring 😀

I then tend to log onto my mage and do my cooking/fishing dailies, then hubby and I get the molten front dailies done and then either we suckered into a heroic run (I refuse to do Z runs) or I stand around in SW bouncing on the fountain waiting for raid invites.

I have started getting into the habit of now playing on another toon until the raid invites are ready.  Generally fluffing about on my other toons and trying to get some levels on them.

We raid, we wipe, we kill, then I jump offline.  Kind of boring when summed up like that I am sure – but as you would all know, it seems more interesting when you are actually doing it!  :p

Day 11: Bad Habits and Flaws.

This is a very very bad thing to write about because I have so few flaws or bad habits!!  :p Yeah right!  I am like everyone else I suppose I have had some major habits and issues over the my lifetime, but as we grow, and change and our life develops we learn to adapt and deal with issues.  Not that I had a problem with it, but I stopped smoking a few years ago, I also managed to get myself off the wacky tobacky, I don’t’ binge drink all that much anymore, I try to spend more time with friends, I have tried to be more supportive to people when in need, I am trying to improve my work options etc etc.  We could go on forever, but the following are just the main ones that i feel plague me!

Day 10: Favourite Blogs/Websites

It has been a while since I have had a chance to do another one of these posts, so I figured now was a good time as any.

Favourite websites – is a very easy one for me, I only have a small amount I like to go to for WoW related information that I am sure 6,000,000 million other people go to 😀

Here is a non exhaustive list:

WoWbash

WoWinsider

MMO-Champ

Blog Azeroth

WoWhead

Of course there are many others I go to for information, but not that I visit almost daily like the above 5 sites. There are also others that are no longer running that I used to read religiously, like magecraft, officerchat and the list goes on of the places that are no longer running 😀

Favourite Blogs

I honestly have too many to list here with links – it would seriously take me hours to write this post.  My blog roll needs an update with the new ones I have started reading recently – but they are all in my google reader or I have subscribed to them via email.

These are just a few of the ones I have in my feed:

Shattered, clearcasting, Bossypally, Treebark, empowered fire, Jaded, guild mum, non-squishy heals, rage quit, postcards…..the list goes on 😀  I don’t tend to comment on many posts – I like to read though. I tend to be too embarrassed to comment on posts because they seem to all be able to write so well and actually have awesome blogs…mine is sort of sub par compared…. There are also a fair few who no longer have public blogs (or have stopped) and as with all things it comes and goes 🙂  I was really disappointed to find snarkcraft the week before they decided to go off air…!!!

Anyway, this post has now made me realise I need to update my blog roll to be inline with my google feed 🙂

I do love the blogs out there which are more personal and just a telling of the lives of others in guild and out.  I enjoy knowing others are succeeding, failing, pushing, achieving etc – it gives me inspiration, laughter, sadness, anger and all the things that make this game – and having networks fun.

Day 9: First Blog post

I wasn’t sure if this was meant to be first ever blog post or first blog post on this blog…so I am giving you both 😀  Just as dull and exciting as the other….

Personal Blog

WoW Blog

They are very short posts and pretty short…to be honest – I can’t remember if I was blogging about WoW prior to the link above other than in my personal blog…I may have to go and find out actually 🙂

Day 8: 10 things you don’t know about me

Well considering no one in the blogosphere knows me, I can pretty safely say any 10 things and get away with it?  I should try and make them slightly interesting though, shouldn’t i?

  1. I want to have a career as a photographer.
  2. I live in a regional area.
  3. My favourite music is Symphonic Goth Metal…Nightwish, Nemesea, Within Temptation, Delain to name a few.
  4. I miss running a guild (including the bad stuff)
  5. I am not confident on my mage as a dps
  6. I am in love with Dean Winchester – the character of Supernatural (yes – the character!)
  7. Ruroni Kenshin is my favourite anime character
  8. I still one day want to collect every care bear ever made…my current collection is made up of one 😀
  9. Completely obsessed with dragons – I have statues, posters, mirrors etc – all over the house
  10. I wish I could handle the sight of blood so I could become a Dr and work for Doctors without borders 😀

Anyway there you go – 10 things about me 😀

Day 7: Blog name

Why did I choose this blog name?  Can I be realy selfish and say because I wanted something that started with “A”, so that when things are alphabetized I would be closer to the top?  Well it is true.. :/

I also decided after having a blog name that was very magey, where I wrote about my pally for over half the time, I needed a non class specific blog name that would cover all my toons, collection addiction and achievement whoring 🙂

I did also toy with the idea of doing some RP – but have just not gotten round to it yet….maybe one day..

I think Azerothian Life lets people know it is about all different aspects and not just one class or topic…(At least, that’s my hope)!  Does it do that?

Day 6: Desk area

My Desk

I need to get an updated picture now, but this is essentially my desk area 🙂  My mac has been moved over to the right to accomadate my windows computer.  The Box is on the floor beside my desk as I haven’t fiddled with the computer holder yet to get it in there.

My windows monitor is essentially where the printer is – I have to sit on an angle because the keyboard I have plugged into my pc doesn’t have a long enough cord, but I can’t use my old G15 anymore as they keys have had the black rubbed off from too much use and I can no longer tell what the letters are….which would be fine for all the touch typers out there :/

Day 5: Favourite item in game

Helps if I publich these posts after typing them up instead of just leaving them pending – sorry for spamming with updates 🙂

My favourite item in game took me a while to come up with, because I have so many items I love – I am a collector after all!

My hyacinth macaw comes in first though.

It took me about 3 hours of solid farming on those damn boats in Booty bay, but I screamed like a crazy woman with cats!

Of course the choices were my elemental mage staff, captured firefly, Seeker Title (is that an item?) or my furbolg trinket which summons a healing dude.

Of course the frost wyrm you get when you kill the lich king would be a dream come true and would be the item I don’t have that is my favourite….anyone wanna help me get it??  heheh

Day 4: best wow memory

My best wow memory; I am not sure I have only one, I have so many wonderful memories and I really can’t pick my best. I am going to list a few of my favorite memories!

1: when I was a very young Mage wearing agility and strength gear with intellect and spirit, a lovely fellow guildy pulled me to the AH and bought me a complete outfit and taught me about gear, stats and what it all meant in the greater scheme of things 🙂 thanks A!

2: a Mage called sienna bought me my first mount. He was an awesome Mage and he taught me (attempted) how to pvp. We used to duel out the front of ironforge and he showed me the importance of rotations and talent trees!

3: the first time I ever stepped foot into a raid environment was 40 man MC and I was amazed by the size of the cavern and the monsters, I was hooked that first time, I loved it and everything that raiding entailed.

4: having the confidence to start my own guild and then motivating people to succeed….

I am sure there are more but honestly they are the four that really stick out as favorite memories. The game has changed so much since then, but there are always memories being developed 🙂

Day 3 : first day playing wow

My first day I simply don’t remember, it was so long ago and I just have no recollection of that day!

However I am going to take poetic license and talk about the first time I was told and consequently shown WoW.

My husbands best mate was down for the weekend – yes with his pc – we used to get together and play Warcraft and rise of nations etc! He lives about 3 hours away, so we don’t see each him as often as we would like!

Anyway hubby and him were discussing wow in great length and I was still trying to get my head around the idea of thousands of people playing in real time together 🙂

So Our friend logged into the game and was at the auction house at the time. He showed us around the world and then headed to badlands to show us the fighting 🙂 hubby and I both had turns playing this super awesome level 40 something Druid who could change shape!!!

I was then lucky enough to be able to start a toon up from scratch – I was hooked!! Completely and utterly in love!!! We didn’t get the game right away though and I am almost certain our friend ended up buying us a couple of copies…. I can’t be sure though 🙂

So if I ever get mocked because of my obsession, I simply blame our friend 🙂

Day 2 : Why did you start a blog?

To fully answer this I need to I guess start at the beginning.  I started blogging in 2003 on Livejournal, my friend got me onto it.  I was always one to continually be starting hand written journals but i just never really found the time to keep going with it.  So I would always stop.

The same is true of my blogs, I hve periods where life just gets in the way and I blog less, either way I found it a great way to remember all the things that have come before. Lessons in history maybe?

What I discovered was there were hundreds/thousands/MILLIONS of blogs on almost every topic I could think of being interested in and I decided to join in on that.

I currently have 4 blogs that I update regularly – personal, exercise, pagan and WoW.  I also used to have a baking blog but am in the process of incorporating that into my exercise blog.  Just as in real life you make friends that don’t share the same interests as all your other friends – and that is how I see my blogging, I have different areas of my life that I want to share with friends and people without having to bore them with all the other irrelevant things 😀  Most of my friends are not WoW players and I was spending so much time talking about WoW on my personal blog that I decided it needed its own space 😀

I would like to use my blogging as a networking tool – however I don’t really do much to increase my reader base to meet those potential friends 😀 I like the idea of people reading my thoughts and ideas and commenting etc, but in the same breathe I know I am boring and not a very good writer – so why would people stay once they have read a few of my posts…it is an interesting position, but I am happy to be in it.

So to sum up, I started blogging to meet people, network and share knowledge and information – this has developed into a full blown obsession 😀 hehehe

Day 1 – 20 days of…- Introduce yourself

*wave*

So this is my first post in a series of 20 from Spellbound.

I am a 30 something Australian female, married to an amazing man, we have no kids (and no plans either). 2 dogs and 1 cat are our children and that is more than enough babysitting for me.

I have been playing WoW since 05  – I have had 3 major hiatus’ from the game that I can think of, and I always end up coming back home to Azeroth.  There are things I believe could be improved – but they are nothing I feel worth complaining about as i enjoy so many more aspects of the game.

In the last 3 years I have been going through a very rough patch – life changing experiences – you could say and I have been trying to sort through a lot of baggage that I seem to have collected (dare I say hoarded) over the years. My main one is dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and associated issues that occurr stemming from that, which was brought on from the rape that nearly took my life.

I have always enjoyed WoW because it is my form of escapism from the world and there is nothing better than living in a land of  magic!  This stemmed from reading my first ever fantasy novel as a teenager – “Magician”….I was then hooked on magic of all sorts.  My library collection is made up of 99% high fantasy novels; Feist, Douglass, Clemens, Donaldson, Tolkien, Eddings, Kerr etc – the list goes on.

This love of magic has crossed into my life and was the reason I became interested in Earth based religions – I classify myself as a witch (pagan).  I have been following a nature religion since i was about 17(approx) and it is a massive part of my life.

I am only just starting to develop a determination to have some sort of career happening now, and I will be trying to get into photography.  I am starting a short course in a few weeks and I am hoping I have an eye for images.  I already take loads of shots and I can link to my deviantart page for constructive criticism if you like 😀

Aside from WoW, photography and magic, I am into so many other things – NRL (go the dragons), blogging (I have 3 other blogs), Symphonic Goth Metal (Nightwish, Within Temptation), Alternative (Lacuna Coil, Nemesea, Delain) and the range just keeps expanding from there; Adele, Raphael Saadiq, Flyleaf, Anberlin, Elvis, Carrie Underwood, The Mcclymonts, Dixie Chicks, Nigel Kennedy….I love Baking/Cooking -3 course meals, cakes, deserts, cookies etc; I do enjoy drinking, movies, TV shows (true blood, supernatural, GLEE, fringe, merlin) and just having fun with friends….

I think I have written too long an intro, so I am going to stop waffling and just shut up now!!  I hope I didn’t scare you away!!

Dragonray

20 days of….

Since I have come back to the game and gotten back into my blog a little more, I found this little thing…

20 days of….

Each day there is a statement/question/idea etc and you write about it – this current one focuses on the blogger as opposed to the game (which was the previous one), but since I am interested in blogs for the bloggers themselves and not the information they provide – I liked this one.
