I am going to attempt to start a new thing on my blog. Each Sunday, I am going to put a post up about a site that I think is pretty cool and one that I use/read/go to very regularly
It may be old news of rose, but could also be new for others and so in the spirit of caring here is my first one.

This week’s shared topic, (which I am cutting it really fine on submitting) is about the general reaction to the new Transmog coming out….
I am torn on this subject, and to be fair, its because I have never been one to accumulate money in game (and out – if truth be known). I prefer to spend it – on …stuff….junk, pets, mounts, items, gear, crap…..I have enough to cover all my raiding expenses; thanks to dailies, and I don’t play the AH (I suck at it) and I don’t really sell my professions or skills in any way that could be considered money making.
So when I hear reports that using this transmog is not going to be cheap; it makes me sad. Depresses me. I would like to dress my nage in either arcanist or netherwind, and by all reports to even store the gear – it is going to cost me more gold than I have on all my toons – not to mention – wanting to use the gear is going to cost me even more money (which I just don’t have).
To me, this is an unfair burden for people to have to pay for – the money does not benefit the economy in any fashion – depending on the costs of it, I wonder how many people will actually use it? There has been a massive demand for a wardrobe type system since BC – and they have obviously heard us – but I wonder if they have fundamentally gotten this wrong. I am more than willing to pay for the service, please don’t misunderstand me, but I am not going to pay stupid amounts like 300g to store an item or to use it. (I barely use reforge because it is damn expensive!) So I am not at all excited about it anymore.
My other beef, aside from the potential costs, is the requirement to have that gear. As I posted previously I deleted all of my gear, every expansion I got rid of everything (except really special items). I am not overly worried about Tier pieces as they mostly easy to obtain again, however what about some items that I will never get again. Some of the artwork out there is awesome and especially for weapons and shield etc – but random drops and quests means that you have to try and farm that specific item again and if it was a quest item – too bad. You will never have that again.
There is no proper solution to that, because there is no way Blizzard could have a vendor with every single item that has crossed your path in the history of your character – ready and willing to re-sell it to you for a price (vendor price I mean); perhaps they could do a vendor with all the epic items perhaps?? LOL Still a pain in the butt for them. The reason I bring this up is because I have a hatred of RNG, random drops and anything that means there is not a guarantee of a piece of gear.
Backstory: I raided MC for just on a year – every week – Sunday from about 9am until about 5pm – with a lunch break for an hour. Yup 40 man raids with 5 other mages, took us all day. In that year I missed approximately 4 Sunday raids, whether I was out or it was my turn to sit out. Either way I never, ever, ever, saw the archaist robes drops once. NEVER. They did however drop every week when I wasn’t in there. I started raiding late so most of the mages in my guild already had the robes and therefore I had no competition for them (if they did drop). To this day I have never owned them, I haven’t been to MC all that much since we left it, and I still have yet to see them drop. So why, why for the love of god, would I want to use this transmog service when the one item I need – has not dropped for me in over 5 years of game play….??!!?!??!!?
I think the transmosg and void service will be great for people that have kept every single item they every owned (providing they can afford it), but , as it stands, with the pricing being reported as pretty high I will not be using it. I would rather save up for the next expansion, because sure as the sky is blue, there will be some other massive expense I need for that, training, riding, gearing etc, and I would rather have my limited funds available for that.
Of course the benefit to not changing gear, is that because so many others (or so they hope) will be changing, I won’t look the same as the other 50000 mages dressed in Arcanist
The other reason I have not been around, is that I have been FRAPSing the guild kills and then trying to upload them somewhere for people to watch. So far, I have only done one video – but god it took long enough.
I had to transfer them from my pc to my mac, convert each FRAP file to mp4, then put them into iMovie, piece it all together, add bits, remove stuff, then upload it. I have uploaded it to youtube, who have disabled the audio because I have a track on it – Yes I have sent the form through to have that disputed, but that was over 4 days ago and I doubt that is going to be of any help.
I then uploaded it to my personal gallery – but people have told me they can’t view it there either. Quicktime issues or something. I created a vimeo account – but my file is too large for their weekly allowance and I am not going to cut more out. So my only option is to download another program that can convert something from mp4 to wma (I am guessing) and uploading it, therefore allowing everyone to view it???
GAHHHHHHHHH
Anyway the video took me all week to do, and I was so proud of it – and I was going to link it up here for all to see, but that has not yet happened….if I find a solution I will potentially do that….
If you have any suggestions please feel free to lob them at me!!!
Yes Yes, I remember you, I know i have a blog I am updating semi-regularly and yes I know I need to actually get the time to post..but honestly so busy this last week -I just wanted to get focused!! Please don’t blame me!!
I spent a week getting my pally levelled.
Due to the changes coming up in 4.3 that have been all over the place, I decided I had to go back to MC for some good ole Arcanist regalia…So me and a guildie trundled off to do some killing
Pally healer and mage = awesome combo
The one achievement that strikes fear into my heart. I really don’t know how many times I tried to get this achievement done. Every time I went into Gundrak – we attempted it – and every time we failed. I can’t say I chased it…I figured that one day it would happen…..That day was yesterday. After our successful raid, i asked if anyone was up for it…..and off we went…
For some reason this raid always makes me think of people farting…gross I know! But it does always manage to put a smile on my face -especially when the boss is doing the wind gust…..I shall say no more
The guild has been wiping on him for a little while now and give him few attempts every week….well no longer
they killed him! We spent all night wiping and getting him to about 6% by which time it was just the tank up!
By the end of it I was burning everything I had in phase 1 and dying every single time in phase three about 2 seconds after popping time warp….argh!!!!!!
The guild got their title and mounts, a few of us need to head back in for a few bosses before we can get them…..hopefully they will help us a achieve that!
Congratulations to us though, 2 kills in one week – firelands is now closer
So i did say a few posts ago I would throw up some of my recent achievements as I haven’t had a chance to keep on top of them with everything I have been doing in game.
So I have placed it behind a cut as I have made it all images
Enjoy!!
I transferred my pally to AT again, and have spent today levelling her, she is almost 83…probably Wednesday night. I would have been there tonight however I was needed for raiding and lost myself a couple of hours
I have enjoyed playing her immensely, I had forgotten how much to be honest. I am levelling her as prot as I figure that will give me the best experience and also the chance to get some tanking gear as I go. They have changed pallies so much since I last played and I am trying to learn the class all over again – it is fun though and adds some interest to the class for me.
My druid is also making progress, she is 23 and I am having fun going through all the new quests in the area. It makes questing so much easier when you haven’t done them before but know the areas well enough that you can move around pretty quickly.
So pally should be 85 by the ed of the week and hopefully will throw some tanking practice in there, the following week. I am so excited at the idea of tanking again.
I am late on the topic for my own suggestion! It has been a little insane both in and out of game.
So I asked the question about what kind of guild are you? What kind of place do you like to call home for both yourself and your toon….
My opinion has changed since I actually posted that as a suggestion and this makes me amazed a how much can change in a couple of weeks.
The guild I am in, was very quiet when came back – and they still are, however aside from the lack of chatter there are further issues that have developed which I will go into later.
Firstly, chatter – I am a chatter by nature, I like the social aspects of the game and it is a large part of whether I am happy in a guild (and playing). I like to log in and see people talking and joking in chat and basically getting to know each other. I don’t like the anonymity of the internet and I think the more people remember that there is a person behind the toon, the better people may start to behave themselves and feel accountable for their language and attittudes.
The other reason I like to see an active guild chat is because I strongly believe it improves any raiding team the guild has. I don’t think I have ever been in a purely social/levelling guild, so I really am just talking from experience here. If you know the people in your team as people, you can develop a more open dialogue with them when it comes to gear, stats, rotations etc; you learn each person’s preferred method of feedback. I have seen so many people come in and just start telling (yelling) people they are idiots, or they say nothing, or they make subtle hints – these methods may work but unless you know each person individually; you can’t possibly know how to talk to them and therefore get a response to work with.
I am now back in my old guild and although I know some of the people in the guild from when I was GL; their lack of raiding etiquette has made me a little crazy. It has been nice raiding with them in the last week (it has given me the raiding bug again) – I have determined I much prefer a raiding guild with some definite expectations and structure regarding boss fights and behaviour during raids. The couple of raids I have been in we have spent (approx) the same amount of time discussing strats as actually attempting the fight…surely this could have been done before the raid either on the forums or in vents etc…I am a stickler for knowing the strats being attempted before we go, so I can study it, work it out in my head and understand it. I don’t like watching 50 different videos to guess what we will attempt on the night. The other thing that drives me to the brink – is so far every time we have done a ready check to pull the boss, someone starts up a story about previous guild/raid/friend etc….really? You have to tell us that just as we are about to attempt a boss kill???
So to sum up, I want the perfect guild don’t i? I want a fun, chatty guild that wants to concentrate in raids and get shit killed….
